Green star not working since update

Morning all, in January our local JD dealer said we needed an update on our star fire 3000 with 2600 screen. We bought this new in 2013 with our combine. We have a bracket and harness set up on our Fendt 718 and transfer the kit between the combine and the tractor as needed.

He brought down a memory stick with him and did the update. Ever since then the set up has not been working correctly. We always use it on SF1 we are in west Suffolk on the fen and always have a good signal.

The sat signal will build up to about 3/4 of the way and work the steering ok but then all of a sudden loose the signal totally. The tractor then doesn’t know if it’s going backwards or forwards.

Sometimes it does get up to a full green bar but then looses it. And other times it will just be a red or yellow bar some of the way.

He wondered if it was the wiring loom so has replaced it, we tried it last week but unfortunately it’s still doing the same.

he did say their getting trouble with the3000 and 2600 screen since the update in feb, just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and solved it?

He says the only other option is to upgrade the receiver and screen?? Doesn’t seem fair as when it was sold to us it was something that would always be updated without having to change the hardware.

Photos were before the wiring loom change.

I took my 3000 dome into the dealers for its upgrade because they said it could not be done remotely or with a memory stick. Admittedly, I don't use a 2600 screen and without the upgrade the dome didn't work at all.

Our 2 sf3000 domes done this. Dealer couldn't sort it so gave us a very good deal to swap them to the sf6000 domes. Apparently they have problems with some sf3000 domes thats all i know.
Symptoms exactly like yours, would build up signal then just loose it randomly.

So it was just the domes at fault? I forgot to say he did have a spare 3000 dome with him and tried that and it did the same, but maybe both 3000 domes were wrong? I wonder if he could try a 6000 dome and see what happens?

They gave us a spare dome to try and that wouldn't work either making it 3 domes that wouldn't go. It might be an area dependent thing. Had no issues previously with signal.
Put the new 6000 domes on and instantly worked

Rep tells me it’s to do with 5 G roll out. It’s affecting the signal as similar bandwidth?

I'd say it is this specific green colour...

What did the rep claim 5G guilty of? The fact that a software update fails? If something else, why do other colours work, including products from the same period of time?

I almost understand discontinuation of some brand specific correction signals but what the heck does 5G do here? Guilty for Covid, must be guilty here too?

We've got 3x 3000 domes and 3x 6000 domes, all got updated earlier in the year and all seem to work fine. However we farm right next to Stansted airport and when we are in fields nearish the runway the 3000 domes drop signal constantly making them unusable in those fields, the 6000 domes however are fine. We recon it must be some kind of signal being emitted from the airport but no idea what. Local dealer came out to verify this by testing some of there domes and found the 3000s not working close to the airport but the 6000s fine but again couldn't say why yet (still waiting to hear back from them). So there certainly is a difference between 3000 and 6000 with regard to them being affected by other signals in the area. Are any of you guys having issues near a source of a different signal such as an airport? This said, we were having the above issues before the update anyway not just after the update.

This is interesting, we are near an SAS camp so wonder if the problem we had was to do with that, our own 2 sf3000 domes and the dealers wouldn't work but the sf6000 are working perfectly so far

Did they offer a solution

He brought a 6000 dome today, put it on, worked fine straight away! It’s a demo one, but he reckons they’re £2800 new. Might be some trade in value of the 3000 but I’m still not happy as not our fault. But he was kind of implying that it wasn’t JD’s fault either?

We are near to USAF bases, but at least 5 miles from both.

Our current theory is some form of drone blocking/detecting signal around the airport interfering with the 3000 domes, god knows why it doesn't affect the 6000s though, not a disaster for us as the affected fields near the airport only come to around 100ac out of 4500ac and we use the 6000s for the important jobs like drilling.

Sounds reasonable, some other local interference could be a problem too (but not really 5G unless very close to a high power unit). I just understood that the device used to work fine but failed competely after a SW update. I wouldn't blame 4G about that.
