@Sonoftheheir , any progress with the dealer? I updated 2 SF6000s last week and wanted to get the update files for a SF3000 but i couldnt find them, they might have been pulled from stellarsupport.deere.com.

As I need it to work I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered a 6000 dome. Have traded in our 3000. Really isn’t good though after buying the original as it was supposed to be future proof!

Neighbour has a 3000 dome on RTK, that doesn’t work either!

We’ve only ever used SF1 as it’s good enough for us, I did try to get them to throw in a SF2/3 sub, but no it costs £1600 or something?!

6000 dome can only do SF3 not SF2. The £1600 I think is the unlock to make it SF3 ready and the sub for the year togethor. So next years sub wouldn't be £1600. However if you've got on ok with SF1 you could stick with that.

Did they value your old SF3000 as a good, working unit? more or less than 50% of the cost of a 6000 dome?

This doesn't seem right at all since there are more cases with the same symptoms it is clearly something wrong with their mandatory update and JD should stand by their products. @CPP , @NZ Tech any inside info regarding this?

It all makes you wonder where we are headed? Luckily(?) some little b***er stole our old dome when they pulled the screen from our two day old combine, out of sight and well away from any road, almost as if they could track it? The new dome was 6000 but since the upgrade the pass to pass isn't as good. We are making beds and it matters but our local dealer plays it down. certainly they are not telling all. Sounds like we are lucky it works at all.

Same problem here, been told its 5G causing the problem

That claim is far too vague. At the support site
they say "StarFireâ„¢ Network changes were necessary to support the addition of new satellite constellations and additional enhancements. This required the introduction of a new signal."

New satellite constellations would not ask for a change for the GNSS receiver as far as the owner accepts the current receiver performance. No degradation caused by new satellites constellations.

Sounds to me like they have changed the JD SF1/2/3 correction signal to incorporate support for new constellations and perhaps a frequency change to avoid 5G interference (the SW bulletin does not mention any 5G issues, could be bulls**t from the dealer). The requirement to update SW before a specific change gives the impression that the JD correction signal is changed. Now if the SFx signal is changed, old receivers might not be able to receive/decode the new format/frequency what ever.

The receivers should not lose GPS satellites (other constellations that they used to manage). The receiver should continue working with EGNOS and with RTK corrections. Is JD afraid of owners moving to RTK instead of their SFx signal or why do they not mention the details?

I wonder what @Woosh means with the "same problem"? Is the receiver/screen completely dead, does it receive satellites and derive position data but just not at any good accuracy or no position info at all? Tried EGNOS or RTK? One just has to be careful with EGNOS too if not used for a long time, check EGNOS correction signal satellite allocation.

This is all before the mandatory update. The receiver/screen may be bricked if the update fails completely. Nothing on the support site about issues after a successful update. They also have videos etc. showing the correct way to update these products.

We have 3 3000 receivers and 1 6000 receiver all up to date software, we starting having issues last autumn, the 3000s were very slow to get signal if at all, when they did it would suddenly be lost sometimes never to come back. If we changed the 3000 receiver with no signal to the 6000 the signal was there almost immediately. We suffered this to get finished in the Autumn. On speaking to our two local dealers they are telling us it is a 5G issue, and John Deere are aware of it. One of these dealers has a list into double figures of customers with the same problems, mostly in the Newcastle and Edinburgh areas just where 5g is being rolled out. This is obviously an issue that is going to get worse for users and John Deere, what the answer is I don't know but we have all bought technology in good faith from the manufacturer, it would seem only reasonable that they help to resolve the situation.

Problem now is getting the replacement dome, how long will it take? Stuff coming from Europe is getting held up and there’s going to be a lot of people wanting domes!
