Greenstar autotrac fault

Got a problem with the autotrac on our 7930, we've had it for 3 years and it was 2nd hand when we got it, we've never used the autotrac on it until today, set it up and basically it doesn't seem to want to steer left, if you engage it slightly off line it'll steer to the right to correct its self but doesn't straighten up when on the line, if you engage it on the line it'll run for a few metres then kick out saying steer control fault. I'm guessing it'll be the steering valve?

Sounds like it. Do check that the wheel angel sensor on the left front is ok. Check for continuity in the wiring loom between the sensor and the chassis. It's a short run from the top king pin across the front axle to connect into another wiring loom. I have one 7930 that has been fine for years but the other one continually throws erroro codes & eats this wiring loom. Continual work on the module at the base of the steering column.

Actually had another wee play this morning, thinking it could be the angle sensor, it will turn the wheels to the left at times so the valve is capable of doing it. Will get the dealer to plug laptop in tomorrow.

Turns out it didnt like the idea of the dealer visit, was using it to mark out a funny shape headland this afternoon and tried engaging autotrac, steered left onto the line first time and went all the way round the field no bother, took it for a drive in the field and it worked no bother again, looks like they must be self repairing these days.(y)

Make sure you have the uni joints serviced/changed every 2000hrs between the engine and gearbox too. Or like my neighbour , you will find out they self destruct and take everything with them...Oooh and check your hydraulic hoses around the back of the motor/exhaust. Or else you will find out they are also self burning.

Should maybe have a look, at 4500 hers and those boys have never been looked at, 7820 did break the shaft between engine and gearbox but it had already had the mod done to stop it taking everything else out with it.

Twas the same neighbour that had it blow a hose behind the block. The stupid thing was aimed straight at the exhaust and blew all the hydraulic oil all over it...End result, only thing left was the front weights and did a lot of damage to the air seeder as well. Certainly one tractor you want to have very very good insurance on....
