Greenstar coverage switch

Looking to have the coverage turning on and off rather than colouring in, here there and everywhere when drilling (would be handy on other operations, but would need a different method.).

Can I tie into the drills proximity sensor or fit one the other side?

Also how would I wire up the sensor?
AMS guy suggested the white cable on the loom but was few years ago and never did anything about it.

Unless someone here knows the details of that specific sensor, I'm afraid you would have to try to read the sensor identification information from the sensor, if you can. Then check from the manufacturer's data sheets if it is a pnp or npn type and the wire colour of the signal line.

Another sensor would work too. You can freely select the type that fits your screen, if it needs +12 for coverage or 0 V.

There’s a whole heap of options within Greenstar that you can set up for individual machines so that recording is switched on and off. You can do it by spool valves, linkage arms up or down and so on.
What’s the function you use to put the drill into and out of work. Once you know that you can set it up in the menu.

Tractor and gs system details may be helpful. 2630 screen has a wire you can switch to 0v to detect an implement switch and switch coverage on/off
Poor mans job I’m afraid!;):D Drills trailed so on a spool, 2600 screen.

Think there’s like 3 options for triggers on mine, but you’ve a JD and electric spools?
If it’s a universal harness I’ll get you the wire number for the implement switch, it’s easy to just wire a switch to earth then you can select on the screen which way round you want it to work. I’ve done it on a couple of my machines now.

Which screen?

That would be perfect thanks!!

You should have a plug on the back of your screen something like this?

Depending on which harness you’ve got it may or may not already have the wire in the plug. You’re looking for wire number 209 (I think it’s gray but don’t quote me on that)
Pin 3.
If it’s not there you may need to get a pin for the plug and make the wire up.
The basic loom will only have 6 wires in it, the higher spec loom will have around 20+ wires in their 209 should be one of them.

Thanks a lot for taking the time for that, drilling last field of Rape now, will look at the plug and loom when done.

Guess that wire would go to the sensor/switch then from the sensor to ground(sorry if that’s a dull question!) and would need to fuse near the screen plug.

Just run a lead to wire 209 pin 3 through a switch to ground, no need for a fuse as it’s not really carrying any voltage/amps but if you wanted you could stick a small one in but your running it straight to earth anyway so not going to blow anything.

Thanks again.

Had a look and there’s 12 wires in the plug, will investigate more when quieter. Hopefully get it up and running for next drilling.

I've tried linking the coverage on a 2600 screen to an implement on/off switch. It was for a Techneat air seeder that had a 0-12V feed so we fitted the switch to the armrest then used a relay to ground the Greenstar signal rather than try & take the risk of feeding 12 volts into the 2600 directly. It wasn't very reliable & we stopped using it after half a season.

If you look at the recording source box you can select a make or break connection for remote switches.

@Phil P not completed but got my head round it all this afternoon.

1st rainy day chance to get round to this and fortunately still got the drill on the tractor as were rained off Wednesday evening and have 7 acres left to drill. Played around with a proximity sensor and got disheartened as it wasn’t working so googled and came up with agtalk forum and mentioned you had to be moving, bingo!!

Thanks Phil looking forward to accurate mapping!:)
