Hi,

Looking for some assistance. We have just purchased a JD 7530 auto track ready with the intention of sometime in the future of adding GPS. An opportunity came up this week to purchase a 3000 dome and 2630 screen with multiple wiring looms and brackets for the right money. The system is unlocked to SF2 but we are toying with the idea of going to RTK and would like to know what an unlock code could cost for this and subscription? Would i also require a repeater? Thanks

Have you a local RTK system you can log in to

from a sf3000 sf2 ready to go to RTK with a radio or RTK modem
it will cost you £3400

Our Local JD dealer has a network we can access. Thanks more than we paid for the system, maybe hold off and use SF2 for the first year and see how it goes.

SF2 will be enough for most arable jobs unless you want CTF or inch perfect accuracy. I've been drilling with SF2 happily for years. SF2 subscription used to be €600/year

Thanks for that. We are hoping to put the young guy on drill ploughs for ridging potato ground. Do you think it will move too much or should be okay?

Just don't go under trees or you'll loose the signal but sf2 will be more than adequate for spuds I've ridged on sf2 and it's grand
Now we're not on spud work we do everything on sf1 and to be honest it's close enough when working back and forward off one side

Appreciate your experience, its our first step into GPS so wasn't sure if i would be good enough but from your views and del_boy that's good enough for us. Thanks for your time.

Yeah you'll be fine and if its your 1st time you'll think its brilliant. Ive used sf1 for drilling in the past on a 6m drill and been ok. As said trees is the only problem and ours takes a bit of time to come back if the signal is completely lost. We currently use sf2 on a tripple row bed tiller and is fine.

I don't see the point of rtk unless it's levelled like a bowling green your gonna ge lucky to get to the accuracy they talk about but it will pick up accuracy quicker

Expect sf2 to take up to half an hour to get to full accuracy if you move fields or go under a tree on a headland

Erm RTK is accurate from the word go! Why does it need to be bowling green level? Rtk doesn’t converge like sat based correction services

The point of rtk is you don’t get satellite drift, which means you could drill every other bought across a field then go back and do the ones In between and it would line up perfectly every time even if you left the field then came back.
If your working pass to pass sf1/2 if fine, I drill beet on sf1 without issue.

I get the point that it's accurate from the off etc etc I'm just pointing out that for ridging for tatties your likely to be either straight onto ploughing or grubbed ploughing so the tractor will be rolling/ getting pulled around a bit so you're gonna be lucky to get down to the figures that are quoted
Whereas if you're planting veg etc on nice level power harrow'd land yes it will do it

The fact that if it is on a sprayer you could pull into the field 10 times per crop and always run in the exact same line as before is worth it. Nudging on sf1/2 is a pain in the arse.

Neighbours jd i drive is sf1 which I hate. My fendt on rtk is a pleasure to use. No convergence time on rtk. Easy decision for me
