Greg Clark - inappropriate language?

I have zero interest in football. But can somebody tell me what this fellow said that seems to have the UK media foaming at the mouth. I've listened to the key points like South Asian, coloured footballers, LBGT, and girls don't like footballs being kicked at them, which are all offensive, apparently. Am I just the wrong generation. :scratchhead:

It’s a moving target, and it’s very difficult for the rest of us to keep up. Apparently whilst “coloured” used to be the term of choice, it should now be “black”, or (what I tend to do) ”the chap with the green shirt” - that is not to categorise people by their skin colour.

Except of course that some non-whites make great effort to describe themselves as such. :banghead:

Just stick to “the chap with the green shirt”

I am becoming resigned to the fact that free speech is now part of the past. What is even more concerning is that the FA Chairman issued an immediate grovelling apology for using language which to me was in no way offensive.

All this is doing is creating more and more racial tension. Are there no decent folk who have the ears of the nation able to counteract this sinister scary movement.

As someone married to an Indian what he said about South Asians isn’t wrong they have different career paths to Afro Caribbean’s. 3 per cent of the population produce 30% of the doctors. The gentleman in question is 62 he isn’t up to date with today’s apologetic society.

But then we have Ulster Unionist Lord Kilclooney tweeting; “What happens if Biden moves on and the Indian becomes President”. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

As a white middle class male, there are subjects that you are wise to avoid in public - these include race, gender issues, religion, slavery and feminism.
Just don’t get involved. Rightly or wrongly there is potential for a world of pain if you say the wrong thing.
There is potential for a world of pain for the person you (wittingly or unwittingly) denigrate. It's not easy for any of us but is there anything actually wrong in thinking of the other person? For example: talking of x popping their clogs in the company of someone recently bereaved, talking of accidents when someone's been mown down by a speeder, drunk driver or mobile user. Fat slob, 'spaz', skinny c**t. All common examples. And when you are being paid, a lot, to represent your sport association, constituency, company, country etc. you have to take the consequences of screwing up in public.

I think the Kamala Harris thing is quite funny she has risen on the back of the African American star but she is really a AfroCarribean/Indian mix people look at colour first and I don’t think she has disabused anyone of that.
