Grinding paper glue

Struggling to get a paper to stick well for some reason atm, to this relatively new (ally) disc i bought, could be the copydex is a bit old (seems alright) or dust on the surface or something cant quite suss it out somehow.
Not had the same trouble with the old steel type discs.
Might try some different type glue for once.

Try the Horner or Heiniger glue... Copydex should be OK but maybe the new disks are too smooth/clean for it

But don't leave the papers on for a long time with the Heiniger stuff - apparently it becomes a nightmare to get them back off. Something I've only just heard - after leaving paper on the discs all winter with it 🤦🏻‍♂️

Was cleaning and grinding gear at the weekend, just refreshing myself and making sure everything was OK.... I see I'm not putting equal pressure across the cutters (the 2 right hand teeth tips are blueing before the left 2) so I'm needing to play with my standing position as I tried moving around and it made no odds

Yeah think I'll get a pot of heiniger. Does seem too clean has got ridges on tho unlike the old wheels, they just got a bit of rusty old age on them.

Tried 2 papers and they bubble off hers and there. Bit annoying.

Funny thing when I start a grind these days I think of what @JD-Kid said about getting feet in the same place each time, then I do a .little, ' shuffle ' with them till it feels right position :D

Not sure why your getting bubbles.

Are papers kept flat so they don't curl up in storage?
Either not enough coverage of glue on the disk or glue going off before papers are applied and clamped.

Shouldn't be getting any teeth tips blue, sounds like tip grinding over grinding or worn out papers.

You do when keeping them on longer than you should - the cutter generates heat whilst being ground, the heat is always intensified at the tips as it is the area of least metal. It doesn't damage the cutter (as long as you don't go too far with it), and is a quick way to see if you're doing anything wrong.

Every grinding technique will blue the tips

Big bubble one area
No papers not stored flat  curled right up had them awhile, clean no dust tho will get some new ones.
but glue didnt go off at all before because it was clamped straight away.

back along tried a 'pre glued one' and that popped off as well wont buy any more of them.

You need to re assess your grinding. You shouldn't be bluing the teeth. Sounds like your tip grinding(as previously mentioned) with uneven pressure on the cutter and maybe grinding for too long. You will knacker your gear very quickly.

not getting on at all well tbh, cant seem to make it stick,( used plenty of evenly applied glue left clamped for over 24hrs ) i wonder if its because im using the old steel clamp thats 14 inch instead of 14.5 could be the convex is not quite the same shape/dimension as the ally one ,i thought it would be
Horner glue comes of easy at least

Let's start from the beginning, what's changed?

New disks?
Where are you getting the bubbles? Centre spindle, centre disk , outer disk or all over?

Whats changed is im trying to glue a paper to a new disc, not my old l lister ones

i bought a new modern ally disc to replace a 14 inch heavy steel lister one , works/fits fine on the grinder tried a self adhesive one first it worked ok for awhile but the started to unstick after some time.
i didn't get a clamp plate to go with it , using the original lister clamp plate i have assumed it was the same shape/bevel just bit less diameter.

bigger bubble this time covering about a quarter of the disc ,from the centre to the outside
maybe i used too much glue. dont know ,just cant get it to stick.
to be sure will have to get a 14.5 inch clamp plate i suppose.

just a dumb question were is the glue not sticking ie to the paper or the plate if the plate maybe. something on the plate like wax or something the glue cant stick too
try a bit of cardboard between clamp and paper just flat cardboard not corrugated type stuff might help take out any diffrence between clamp and plate face.
if the plate is not brand new may have a warp in it so not touching fully were paper lifts mark on back of plate with a felt pen if dose it again in same area something way out of whack

true clamp plate is a very old lister single disc one but seems fine might but not fit the new disc could be the prob.

disc very clean .as new but been wiped down /dusted with plain water and cloth
not sticking to either well very well tbh ,paper or disc and its a new flat paper

good idea cardboard packer and try not to overtighten the clamp nut like i do sometimes i guess/
