Been looking at this for a house here, been quoted £35,000 and thats with us putting the horizontal pipework in, a borehole is apparently more.
I'm looking at putting aircon in instead, and use the cash saving for solar panels and batteries.

Going to be extending a cottage that will eventually be for ourselves. Garden area probably wouldn't be big enough for a horizontal layout of heat pipes, has anyone got experience of the ones that use boreholes for the pipes instead?
We put a GSHP system in to a new house & it is great , under floor heating & lots of insulation , it is free heating with a RHI payment

Maybe, but had 3 quotes similar.

12kW GS heat pump, 300ltr cylinder, buffer tank, 3x 225m heat collectors, complete underfloor heating system 144m2 floor area.
That is with your underfloor heating and the scread over the pipes if it is that price is not that far off the market more than we paid but I know things have gone up a lot in the last year

They've suggested these figures. But the house we're in at the moment has less insulation and only costs £550 a year in heating oil?

Sounds strong money. Ours in 2017 was a bit under 16k including all pipe work for UFH, domestic hot water cylinder and all plumbing fitted and commissioned. We screeded the floor and trenched the field, a morning’s work with a 13 tonner and a longish day to reinstate after

How is the rhi working with a new built? Do you have to meter the usage? We were very fortunate to be able to base it on previous system and EPC rating. System is long paid for, win win!!!

No heat meter now , just go on the size of house and the insulation you have and they tell you how much per month they pay out , with the price of heating oil now it was the best move ever
Do you have a woodburner as well?
I am not sure of my facts but, I understood woodburners counted as an altrnative heat source and meant you had to be metered if you have one.

I think they’re ok if stand alone but you can’t have any other heatsource heating the same water. We have one in lounge and the installers weren’t impressed that we were fitting one saying it will never be needed but it’s the best thing we have as a top up and has proved invaluable during power cuts!!!!
