It seemed to go down pretty well last year, so we're putting on Groundswell over two days this year. We're having what we call Grass-Fed Day on 28th June, in association with the Pasture Fed Livestock Association and the No-till Day on the 29th, which will feature 10 or so different makes of drill working in standing cover crop and a host of exciting speakers.

We've got David Montgomery, author of Dirt, speaking about his new book Growing a Revolution, which should be published in May; we also have lined up young Silliam's friend Dr Sarah Beynon the beetle expert to talk on both days There are some other really great names who we are talking to and we'll dribble information out to keep excitment levels up...

Are you sure the overnight camping is a good idea? I can just picture you and @SilliamWhale sitting around a campfire reminiscing on the past. How in the good ol' days you used to compete with your neighbour's about who could plough the straightest furrow and how you thought that if you weren't filling the tractor back up with diesel by tea time you weren't taking out the compaction. You'll be commenting on the scant regard for the worm population, after all, now you've stopped feeding the seagulls the poor bu**ers have to rob unsuspecting tourists of their fish and chips. Also about how you used to win the local field contests by chucking telephone numbers of chemicals at the crop with gay abandon as to whether it was actually profitable, and the misspent youth of roaring around on a quad bike distributing slug pellets. You'll be laughing about how at the turn of the millennium you thought that @Jim Bullock and I had totally lost the plot but then later your neighbour's leant on your gates and told you it'll never work. By the time the sun rises you'll just about be getting around to how poetic it is that a new dawn is occurring in agriculture and we'll all be too exhausted to fully enjoy the second day.

Give it a few more years and they will be complaining about how much Groundswell has changed and that no till has got far too commercial.

My hope is that @martian will do some belly dancing around the campfire. I'll be leading an erotic poetry workshop in the evening as well, be quick to get your tickets for my gig...

There won't be any chance of @martian belly dancing. @Clive has told his wife that he'll be booking the exotic holiday this year although I wouldn't want to be in his shoes when she finds out it's glamping near Luton. I expect his young lads will take the mob grazing lecture literally and martian's evening will be spent retrieving them from the gardens of Baldock.

Really enjoyed last year so I'll certainly be along. Although if the compost loos are making a reappearance then I'll be bringing my own toilet roll and commode. A charity boxing match between Tony Reynolds and Jeff Claydon would be a good follow up to last year. Intrigued how many people Mzuri can upset this year. Looking forward to it!
