Groundswell 2019

Great show as usual, BBQ was the worst 15 quid I can every remember spending, a bit of leather meat with cold potatoes, the pits

That was still better than my Vegan Wrap I bought on the first day - was expecting a bit of hummus and a wrap to be £3 max.

Fiver!!! I'm not used to these London prices ...

The Curry stall was nice mind. And the Coffee was good. Nice that you still get a cup of bog standard coffee and tea for £1 too as well - and thank goodness for the free water!

Unfortunately I didn't get to go so interesting to read your comments thank you.

For those that went will you implement anything shown at Groundswell this year on your farms? And what will it be?

I have just listened to a U tube video of Allen Savoury. One of the first to realise the value of mob grazing. Interesting man. A few decades ago he insisted the Zimbabwe govt. cull 40,000 elephants to save the grasslands - that was then done, and then he realised he was wrong.
Certainly left field!!

Looking into making compost and adding herbal leys into the rotation. Felt like what we’re already doing is on the right track. Fabulous day best show I’ve been to in years.

improving the mob grazing of our youngstock and drystcock whilst trying to get my head around it for the milkers without losing production or quality. Get more diversity in the leys.

Definitely looking into composting our turkey muck, brother in law is a tree surgeon so I've got a ready supply of woodchip to mix in.
Need to have a chat with one or two youngsters locally with sheep to see if they are interested in mob grazing some herbal leys as there is a 130 acre block that would definitely benefit from it but I don't like sheep!

More species diverse cover crops.

Mix woodchip with fym.

When the mob of cattle were moved onto herbal ley a cloud of insects got up. Thought it was something I'd only read about in a book!
