I think an online "conference" would be very hard to manage with so many delegates. A series of webinar recordings would work though, perhaps with some sort of facility to submit questions to the presenters for reply in "slow time".

we have the tech covered, @Chris F has been working hard over the last few weeks with AHDB and others to find workable solutions

I'm not sure about an online conference @martian, it would cause you a lot of work, and I bet when you looked at the analytics afterward, you'd find few people stuck with a video talk to the end in the way they would with a real life talk?

It will also miss the vital element of face to face interactions, happening to sit next to a random farmer in the hall or at the bar and strike up interesting conversations etc.

I'd treat it as your year off, Glastonbury style.

Interesting.
To me, this doesn't sound like the clamour of a mob wanting an online conference. It doesn't sound like I'll be getting in touch Clive...
For those of you who like the idea, try the Living Soils Symposium, starting tomorrow. On Canadian time. Some good speakers

Good call... I found the presentation this evening interesting and thought provoking.

Not a patch on a live seminar obviously, but easier to slip off for a beer...

Sad not to be going to Groundswell this week.
Took my missus last year and camped .She loved it. It was going to be the highlight of our year this year and had even bought a new tent and air mattress so she could get a good nights sleep!
An indication of how good an event it has become is that it is the only cancelled event this year that we are really going to miss.

And it was going to be hot and sunny!

Another webinar tonight! Some of the founders of the Fibreshed/Fibershed movement in conversation...What has Fashion to do with Farming?
Book here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/1815952463861/WN_UbVFDH10SBqaLquCE_HPrw

This is one of the topics I was most excited about for Groundswell this year, having read Courtney White's collaboration with Rebecca Burgess in the book Fibershed. Rebecca, who started the whole project, will be talking to two or three of the UK's hub instigators. As we hear about sheep farmers composting or burning their wool because no-one wants it, now is the time to promote any initiative that boosts demand for local fibre.

Sorry, a bit inarticulate...we are combining, so short of time, but do tune in...it'll be great
