Groundswell Show 2022

Not blaming yourself then for not getting jabs
Have a day off 😂 I was mostly joking. I take it you’re still butt hurt that I said something nasty about poor Amanda.

Although I have avoided picking up Covid up till now despite having a normal life, but of course Groundswell is a mixing pot of folk from all over.

If it makes you feel better, my mate, a younger and probably healthier lad than me, who’s had his jabs, is also “proper f*cked” to use his words. And so the jury is about about whether I’d be any better off.

I’m 39, no known illnesses and fully jabbed; got all through the lockdowns then my boy brought it back from nursery. It was so bad my wife called 111 and had my sats not improved in an hour they were sending an ambulance. 48 hours of absolute horrific existence and a fortnight before I was 80% good again. I would like to think that the jabs kept me alive but who knows 🤷‍♂️ We have a 6month old and a 3yr old and I think the thorough exhaustion from anything means it brings you down even more

Doesn’t sound good!

And aye I am well and truly exhausted.

First two lorry’s due tomorrow morning to start removing my ewes and lambs from the soon to be ‘rewilded’ farm.

I am not looking forward to loading and trucking ewes wirh late april / may born lambs at foot across the country. In this state!

I'm 43, my colleague who I came to Groundswell with is 44. We're both triple jabbed and have both had Covid last year. But this time round it's knocked us for 6, me particularly. I'm still working but only just and tagging lambs on Friday is going to be hell. Last weekend I could barely stay awake for more than an hour at a time.

So if this is a side effect of regenerative ag you can keep it, I'm off to shine up the Kverneland and neck another tin of organophospate, neither of which has apparently done me any such harm in the past.

Hope you feel better soon @CopperBeech. No fun when you've got stock to worry about.

True, but the damage is now done. DEFRA staff think that's the definition of pp.

The "grass for 5 years" definition is a typical bureaucratic one; simple to write, easy to check and wrong. It imposed a reductionist view on a complex system.

A genuine pastoral farmer will recognise genuine pp immediately but it's hard to explain to a non-farmer.
Just to let you know I've been asked about this on here and in person a few times, can see the issue and I'm looking into it to see what we can do about it

Sounded brilliant
I got back last night. I thought it was brilliant. Lots of good speakers, well organised.
Sorry for my slow reply only just seen this, yes!! Carbon Calling I'm please to report was a huge success!! Liz, Tim, Reno and I were thrilled with the weekend, plenty of stuff we can improve on but overall it was exactly what we have been dreaming of! Farmers talking to farmers, no one trying to sell anything, great vibe, incredible speakers, lots of positivity and smiles. We won't clash with Groundswell again either,
