Groundswell Show 2022

I know, and he peppers his talks with some facts I agree with, it's just the conclusions he draws from those facts must take some really difficult mental gymnastics. I suppose the facts that I agree with make his conclusions seem more logical to those with less time to research the issues.

The problem is everybody pollutes in some form or another.

He is only looking at one sector as a snapshot. Farming does have some problems with pollution, of course it does. So do cities, so does the media, so does flying, so does energy production, so does old people homes etc etc. Its not a wide ranging view to just say "this is wrong because it pollutes". Trade offs, trade offs all the time

I agree with a lot of his sentiments but not the way he alienates farmers. It's no way to conduct a debate.

Part of it. Ended up walking out, one of two sessions I walked out of before I said something rude! The other was by an estate owner talking of the wonders of rewilding and glossing over all of the tenants they had booted out to make way for two beavers which were of negligible positive impact.
problem is we are governed by opinion formers who are twit s. You can get your bottom dollar, if it was the other way round, and you gave your opinions in a vegan conference they would demand you were no platformed for micro aggressions!

Nothing like keeping an open mind though...
I'm sure George has got a very open mind... notšŸ™„šŸ™„

On the headline, didn't realize farmers did hold so much sway. Though seeing as everyone relies on them for life they probably ought to have a bit of sway.

On his logic, why are vegans given so much airtime/ column inches - they are such a tiny minority.

I suppose it could be "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" (attributed to Sun Tzu (孫子 or å«ę¦), the famous 6th century BC Chinese military strategist and author of Sun Tzu, The Art of War)
good point but no very good if it just frustrates a chap on an otherwise positive good day out .

Gay people make up 2.7 % of the population, is George suggesting we should make their representation and rights in society proportional ?

He talks sh*t and tries to sound clever.
