Grundfoss Magna 1 or 3 pump?

a 3 yrs old 65-150 has just packed up - red error (72)

the 1's seem to have less frilly bits, do i really need to know the output and temps?

the 3 has more gizmos,

seems to be £1500 - £1900 so not much in it but i am worried that longer term the same stupid electrics will kill the pump again.

any advise on the new ones?

get the cheaper one, these pumps always seem to break a some point (sooner than they ought) so save some money.
It seems important to make sure you don't have too much crap floating around your system (fit a filter somewhere and keep it clean).
Make sure there is inhibitor in the correct concentration in the system.
Also if the pump is stopped for a period of time, then they can cease up. So keep them running most of the time.
But personally, I don't like these pumps, they always break and it doesn't seem to matter which brand you choose.

agree to all points! we clean out strainers out often but find as its a relatively closed system they are never bad now.

i have some from 2012 which are still going, they just have an up down button. this new fancy rubbish is not needed!

ironically its now fixed itself today but for how much longer.

the most annoying bit is i can over ride it to max setting, belts out 40m3 all day long which is over kill. will keep it as a back up pump, at least flanges fit!

We originally had Magna pumps on our boiler and CHP, but they were too smart for their own good. They would fight each other for the flow!
They now have UPS 50-120 units on 3 phase which have been running for 12 years so far. A pump which we took out and kept for spare siezed, and we had to get a spare part as the complete pumps are no longer available. (Anchor pumps). It seems that once you have commissioned a pump you need to keep it in inhibited water and run on a regular basis.
