Pity ACE E didnt have multiple outlets across the UK
If the right folks could do it there is some serious business n money too be taken away from the MAIN STEALERS the more n more you think about it.
Hit them where it hurts, they have been legally RAPING us all for donkeys years in a lot of cases
Maybes not always the MAIN STEALERS to blame mind as there prices are set by the Pull ya Back teeth out Dick Turpins 6th removed cousin THE MAKERS & all seem to operate like
a Mafia controlled CARTEL over here.
RIP OFF BRITAIN has never been so bad eh folks
Just to add to this iam sure there is 100's of independent very able Spanner business's up n down the UK i use some myself where needed
that do honest graft & possibly supply either spurious or genuine parts in pretty much all cases to us farmers & we are glad for there help
but id say a lot of the Major Franchised dealers unfortunately have vast overheads that costs need to be passed on & thats why its really hurting us folks now.
no wonder the major players are forcing family owned dealers to cover more n more areas & less competition after that which is only going one way for us all
nothing will get any cheaper & service poorer, i can see it happening now.

What some selfish greedy people need to realise is that the sun⛅ comes up in the morning for all of us. Not just for them, and we all need a little slice of the cake to live on.hope one particular local dealer reads this and thinks on!

It's mostly the machine manufacturers and that main dealers aren't really allowed to offer alternative parts as that undermines the machine manufacturer etc.

Sometimes the uplift in genuine price isnt that bad but when you have a genuine part from the original manufactor of the item at say £500rrp and then the machine manufacturers want £1100rrp somethings clearly gone abit wrong there!

Genuine deutz turbo at just over £1k compared to genuine JCB at over £3k for example is just stupid.

Manitou do dumb stuff too.
Like a new headstock locking ram about £850. BUT if you buy a kit to convert a manual locking headstock to hydraulic locking it's just under £700🤦‍♂️ that includes all pipes fittings brackets some electric bits for the cab and a new ram😆🤷‍♂️

Anyway I only need one outlet. Couriers deliver all over uk next day👍

In the past few months I have also sent manitou stuff to Poland, Belguim, Austria and Western Australia!🙂
You will have to build a fancy head office, employ a couple of blonde secretaries, a personalised bentley.....

Got an old MF 60HX industrial loader, doesn't do much, sits about for odd jobs.
Need a new upper door window, flat pane of glass with 4 or 5 small holes in it.
£580!!!! :banghead: :banghead:
Local glazing lot tell me its a dealer only part hence the price.
Might claim insurance but on principle alone I refuse to pay that for a flat bit of glass.
Same as this,

Probably cave in when it snows.:cry:
Have you tried Scott Glass, Oldmeldrum, they had for 50HXS which I think is the same.

Probably go the other way if anything.🤷‍♂️
If I had a double garage at home and a small shed I could easy give up on the spanners and just sell parts.

You dont need to stock much imo suppliers all ship direct these days bare a couple.
One could almost run it from a spare bedroom! Yeah you might not turn over quite so much but so what when you've cut you overhead to almost zero!

I'll stick to my current workshop for a few more years yet but I'll not rule out this possibility of scaling right back in the future.

Going big isnt the answer for me.

If only we farmers were able to join together with the independent supply trade and come up with a way to make this sector more accessible to all.

Independent car garages are common as anything. They keep the independent parts demand going too.

Threads like this are good for highlighting disparity but don’t really help solve the issue long term.

I learnt of a new engineer only a couple of miles down the road from me only a week ago....before that I didn’t know he existed.

I guess plenty of independents are busy enough they don’t need to advertise.....but that demand doesn’t seem enough to encourage others into the industry and follow suit. Specialists like @ACEngineering and @Phil P who have their specific niche are most handy of all because they know the quirks to save money on labour and parts.

APH are probably the most successful example of non-franchise machinery servicing/repair I can think of.

Do that. I could sell parts all day, would be quite interesting I think, too.

Thats the trouble the next generation want there cake 25yrs before its made.
There is a generation that wants everything tomorrow & the whole thoughts of how its paid for isnt of any concern to them
Food has dropped so far down there list of priorities its a crying shame really

we use an excellent local independent mechanic for everything other than the tractors and simple stuff we can do ourselves

if more parts manufacturers put parts on Farm Marketplace it would benefit farmers the platform is there for them to supply direct but like ag chemical often established (somewhat anti competitive) existing arrangements get in the way !
