You know the mushroom season has started when you can see the beggars from over a quarter of a mile away.

Well, I thought that's what they were and @MrsY B confirmed it, through the binoculars from the bedroom window, before she set off...

Soon she'd run out of basket capacity.....

....gonna need best part of half a pig to go with that lot.

We had some early mushrooms at the end of July, earliest i ever had, not as big as the ones above, must be a good year for them.

Fantastic. Nothing better than field mushrooms with bacon.

Mum used to fry them and add cream to the pan. Never see them these days no idea why.

That particular field has always been good for mushrooms but last nights haul were unusually big.

Natural muck not bag muck seems to be the preferred area

When we were kids,mum and dad were away for a weekend and we stayed with grandparents. Grampa had picked a bucketful and nanna did a big frying pan full. I didn't want any,grampa wasn't hungry so my brother ate the whole lot and got poisoning. Didn't know where the hell he was

Neighbour has some short term leys which have a fair bit of fert thrown at them and he's direct drilled swedes on one. Mushrooms everywhere in there,never been seen before

Possibly disturbed the spores when drilling or they came in the seed

Common to see them in burnt off direct drilled fields

That particular field has always been good for mushrooms but last nights haul were unusually big.

They often grow where somethings been spread or other foodstuffs off loaded off a quad bike or trailer,swedes or mangolds etc.Spores in the soil off the roots? or where youve emptied your septic tank. Looks like what youve got there,where they have grown in a semi circle.
