Surprising the number of guinea fowl eaten world wide, I put this graph in another thread but it demonstrates this fact nicely here too.

One of the best things about guinea fowl is that they are super tick hunters. These birds can zero in on ticks and take them out like nothing else. They love the little pests. People buy these birds for a lot of reasons, but a big one is to help with tick control.

I'm in the USA and ticks are a huge problem, esp rural Southeast.
a lot of the old timers kept them. I remember them growing up. a few are still around. very entertaining, I think. (rarely eaten over here)

on some away ground, there are 6, been free ranging over 25 acres, the same 6 were there last year, and the year before that, don't reckon they would eat well now.
years ago put a dozen out with the pheasants, flew well, 2nd shoot they flew well, straight to the highest tree, and stayed there, they dwindled away, the last one, l shot at 3.00 in the morning, from our bedroom window, noisy bugger.
they say, they are good in a veg garden as they eat all the grubs, and don't scratch the soil about.

Guinea fowl are a fantastic meal. Nothing like pheasant or chicken, not fatty like duck. Simply delicious. I can't keep fowl on the place due to two mutts that I inherited that terrorise the local birds but if I could I'd arrange at least one or two for the pot every month.

I'd love to have some round the house & garden, but all the fields directly around are wall to wall maize (fox paradise) so they wouldn't last long.
on some ground we rent, there are 6, guarantee they are at least 3 yrs old, probably older, they go range out into the fields, and are a source of wonder, to me, that a fox hasn't had them, pretty certain they roost in trees, not their shed.
Noisy buggers though, if 1 gets separated, the make one hell of a noise.
