Funny how folk forget that many of the prized fishing grounds for UK boats are also in French waters. The Scallop wars were not happening around Brighton but in and around the Seine estuary. As for the RN they will be loathed to get involved in another 'Cod war' with the shortage of personnel and ships they currently have. But its funny how things change, as the 'Cod wars' were all about the UK demanding by force, open seas access to fish stocks around Iceland.
Oh, and I forgot to add the UK government put large tariffs on Icelandic cod in reprisal as the UK was it's main market.
