Ok, I’ve looked back at your post and still can only see it as an attempted humorous way of saying the popular on these type of threads - “french surrender monkies
That's not a phrase I would use; being something of a traditionalist I prefer the original '85 version of 'Cheese-eating surrender monkeys', and would have used it had I intended such to be the message. (y)

In fact, and seeing as there isn't, currently anyway, anything for the French to surrender about, I was referring to the Gallic penchant for over-dramatic sulks and mockery - and it's a very funny accent in the film too.

Sorry to disagree but there is something for the French to surrender about - they are currently fishing in waters where their entitlement rests on UK membership of the EU - it seems they are trying to leverage that right into the future

Sadly true but, currently, they have every right to fish in our waters if they want and are qualified to.

And that quote was brought about because the French refused to join the US in the war against Iraq without conclusive evidence of WMD. But Bush conned and flattered the UK though Blair and the rightwing Tories in joining him. A good move?

No, it was brought about because of France's surrendering in the past, but was used then for your reason. :)

Jan 21st means nothing.
You should maybe explore the undertakings of NATO. Trump or no Trump.
For why? NATO only deals with exterior agression, internal squabbles are for the participants to sort out.

Edit: can you see brave President Macron having another tantrum and threatening to leave NATO now? :ROFLMAO:

Edit: just noticed my original post, #41, contains a typo, I should have written '95... 🏳

I just paid for a little part at a uk tractor dealer with my french card - I thought did cross my mind “will I be able to do this when the war breaks out?”
🤷‍♂️
Sad isn’t it and I’ll bet Farage is laughing his head off

What war?!!! :banghead: FFS, when 'Dave' Cameron mentioned WW3 and Mr Interesting Tusk the end of Western civilisation coming about because of Brexit, even they didn't believe it. Stop being such a drama queen, there will or won't be a deal and trade will carry on either more or less as before, but a bit differently. (y)

Who said ww 3. Whose being a drama queen?
Fish wars though🤔
I did say to mrs cz, “I wonder how the neighbours will behave to us when shots are being fired over french fishing boats?”
“Maybe you need to learn Czech quick!”
Many a true word...

I very much doubt shots will be fired, nets will be cut, well of course if that's allowed for environmental reasons, also boats will be boarded and those on board arrested.

No, apparently it was only first used in April1995 in an episode of the The Simpsons.
Yep it was first used then (note my edit) but was brought about because of France's record of surrender. Had the French not had such a record, it could not have been brought about, or used. (y)

I struggle to see that the fishermen who have bought the quota (not just French of course) will stop attempting to fish, so something will “kick off”
Yes, the first part had occurred to me too, there is an EC liability at law and, arguably, a British moral liability to reimburse them. I would have no problem with a 50 / 50 split of the cost as a good will gesture, but wouldn't offer any more.

I find the surrender topic interesting (off topic of course) and I’ve had it with a few Czechs. Do you consider that Czechoslovakia was cowardly or responsible to capitulate in (early) 1939?

It's a bit of a strange one. The French see the fish in our waters and quite like them and want to take them back to France.

If only they could do the same thing with their illegal migrants who keep floating around in the channel?

The whole truck queue/blockade thing is a joke. If it makes imported product scarcer and more expensive I'd be in favour of it.
