Gym Cost Per Month

My year ends in three weeks. Healthy choice of gyms and leisure stuff nearby. For some reason (can only presume bad) the David Lloyd doesn't publish it's prices. Anyone care to share?

I pay £280 a year at my local place. Includes pool, sauna, classes etc. It's a bit dirty but I think that's good value.

David Lloyd was costing us £90 each a month for adults, family membership £200pm - Vitality Health polity gave us a 50%. Discount on that to £100/m

Cancelled a year ago and kitted out a gym at home which gets much more use, personal trainer costs £20 / 1 hr session if you need help and advice so a much cheaper route than a big gym IMO

David Lloyd only really worth it if you use the tennis courts and pool etc which we really did

David Lloyd was great when our two girls were very young as there was a crèch, swimmming lessons etc, good cafe and facilities very good. Stopped going so much so then cancelled as not worth it. To be fair I think a bike , rowing machine, treadmill and full set dumbbells would enough for me at home.
Anyone considering a rower Concept 2 or Water rower are the only ones worth having...

I'll ask the wife. Water rowers do look very very cool.

As an aside, I was once persuaded by a colleague to do the 2K test in a gym. He was a marathon running sort so I was a bit apprehensive and I've never rowed even a stroke before. I agreed and got on the thing and rowed for the life of me. I don't remember the time but it wasn't half bad though I was nearly sick afterwards. Phone the wife and she replied I was 2 seconds short of the time needed to get into the women's team at Bristol rowing club...
