Gyrax dung spreader

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows exactly how tight or slack depending on how you look at it the floor chains are supposed to be on a Gyrax spreader as all I can find in the book is, "Make sure to maintain proper chain tension at all times." With no indication of what that exactly is.

Thank you

Thank you

So far we haven't really needed any pieces other than some slats which were simple enough to make though knowing sods law I'll have jinxed. I think the gearboxes etc are supposed to be Comer and the same as the Bunnings. The most frustrating thing is the vague manual after you have translated it from french.

Bon courage! 😂. As long as they don’t jump on the sprockets you will be fine.
That and a piece of concrete block was what expedited the slat replacement after forgetting I had slacked it off to get a flint caught between the bars for the non-fitted slurry door and the chain how it had got wedged but not bust something I don't know, it make me rather ****** off at myself for forgetting and not noticing until 3 slats looked as straight as a curly whirly

My Gyrax, has four bed chains, the middle two stretche far more then the outside ones.. every two years the chains are swopped inside to out.
The gear boxes are Berma and available from Kramp.
The cutter on the beaters are not like anything I have found off the shelve and have to make my own, but that is very easy to make.
What problems are you having?

Ours is only the smaller one but definitely a huge step up from the old Sperry barrel type we had before that used to skip and bounce while spreading. The chain skipped on one side after getting caught up and curlywhirlied a couple of the slats which I replaced with ones I made up out of the same channel and M14 bolts but it has been a brilliant spreader I just wish the manual didn't seem so vague other than the large type stating to only use Genuine Siam parts and especially not DIY parts.
