Gyroscope for trailed sprayer

Just a quick question,

when fitting the gyroscope to the tractor that pulls the trailed sprayer, should the gyroscope be fitted directly over the hitch point or does it matter if it’s say 8” in front of the hitch point?

It depends on the make of the steering controller. However as long as the steering controller “knows” where the gyro is located with respect to the centre line of the tractor, hitch, axles etc it should do the required compensatory maths/trigonometry/geometry etc for you to keep the tractor on the line.

Mine on a knight sprayer was just had its bracket bolted to a suitable hole in the steel work above the spools its about middle and about 60 cm forward of the pin, all I think it does is compare with the one on the sprayer and sorts it out so I dont think it matters as long as its on the tractor.

It does do funny things if you forget to fit it to the tractor and have both on the sprayer though!!
