My cousin did that twice in about half an hour. Knocked himself out second time.

Used to grow acres of stick beans and acres of raspberries. All the posts for the trellis work were knocked in by hand with a post knocked.
You soon learned how not to smack your head with it.
I’ll always take the mankiller to do a odd post, rather than pee about splitting posts with a sledgehammer.
You need a Mel, not a Sledgehammer.
To the op. buy a tractor post knocker. Yes it seems excessive but trust me, you'll wish you bought one 20 year ago. We got ours 2nd hand 12yr ago. It sits not doing much for long periods, but when there's repairs to do or a fence to go up you're glad you've got it! (the repairs actually get done!)
I agree on the post knocker. My Protech has paid for itself many times over, although I do tend to put a lot of stakes in with the Merlo now, where I can get at it.
Mankiller is only for odd stakes, when repairing normally.
I did that, end of a run of posts, really tired so didn't settle the knocker first just lifted it up and threw it down as hard as I could... and the post moved in the breeze. Did a 30m wobbly circleMy cousin did that twice in about half an hour. Knocked himself out second time.
