Hand hygiene and hand eczema

Like many Farmers, I really rate Dermashield. As in REALLY rate Dermashield. (y)

Its a low build barrier cream with lots of side benefits I have found over 20 odd years of using it. No greasy hands and it seals the hands and treated skin from water (and chemical) damage etc. Once a day is adequate for most purposes, but if washing hands a lot, or using Swarfega type products (at lunchtime.. ;) ) I'll apply more when going out again...

I also use it on my face and neck if working in the driers to stop my getting mad spot and zit attacks!

Seems pricey, but isn't. I use it to clear up cracked fingers and also on mild eczema... Try a small trial pack?

Later... they do offer a free trial!

Hi coming a bit late to this debate. I work with elderly people, who can have very frail skin. In their case we don't wash with soap. Things like Epiderm (especailly waht they call three in one) /Diprobase even E45 can be worked into a washing product with warm water and really do work wonders. I appreciate if your hands are really dirty then this may not feel like an option but there are so many times when our hands just need a really good rub in hot water and thorough drying. All of the above are fantastic moisturizers as they contain "nothing" but and I shouldn't say this, if you can use it the Vaseline moisturizer like this lus.co.uk/product/vaseline-intensive-care-essential-healing-lotion-200-ml?gsm is absolutely fantastic - it's not a real barrier though.

Thank you @GrannyAching , my friend is open to suggestions, so I'll pass yours and @steveR 's on, as I have with the others.

There was a suggestion on TV that a suitable moisturiser could be applied, then hands washed to the tune of [insert 20 second tune here], or hand sanitiser used, then hands carefully dried, and then moisturiser applied.

She'll no doubt hit on the best method for her ... eventually.
