Hand roguing blackgrass.

If doing this this week do I need to remove the plants from the field, in which case it's a non starter!

I have done a bit today in fields with low populations and I can make a reasonable difference but only buy chucking them on the ground as I go. Carrying them out would make it too slow.

So are green blackgrass seeds able to grow, I know wild oats can but what about bg?

Yes you do, round here they have a telehandler in the field with the gang.

Think its best to remove them and burn them. Need some sort of under arm bag strapped round the shoulders/back, to spread the weight, to fill up and drop off at the headlands. Its a pretty crap job especially if your on your own :(

My gang are on their last day today. Five have of them have been here 8 days and have done 20ha. I have no bad patches and looking from a distance the fields looked clean.
This is not economical so winter wheat is now out the rotation on any fields with a sniff of blackgrass.
We have bagged the bg up and will burn it once it dries

I'm doing a couple of acres every evening after the children are in bed. Pull a bundle, leave in tramline, come back the next day and stack them at the field edge to burn.

If its too late to knapsack-then it is too late to use the sprayer in a more serious manner too. Plenty of it by all accounts going on in mid lincs.

Accurate guidance of possible viability in relation to stage of the blackgrass would be helpful- many farmers are taking the max safety level and rogueing, is it strictly necessary?

I hope not, I've been out doing some today.
I'm finding odd plants in previously clean fields. No balers to blame either.
In the seed perhaps ?
