Harbro no longer accept cheques

Went to buy some calf milk from Harbro and was told they do not accept cheques any more, is this true at all Harbro stores. Been buying off them for 20 years.Prefer cheques as easier doing accounts

totally agree we were feeding show cattle on their pedigree bull crunch £430 per ton and very variable, moved to ECV and same feed £240 per ton and proven to do the job.

Well thats a stupid policy, but cheques easier ? really ? thought i was slow to change but my god now i have the cheque book dose not see the light of day unless necessary, id even change supplier if they insisted a cheque all being equal.

The last firm that told me that was informed that in that case I no longer wished to deal with them.........,.,,,,they were soon explaining that it didn't apply to the likes of me, it was to get money out of the bad payers. Wether I believe that or not is another matter but I'm still paying by cheque but would happily take my business elsewhere if they didn't.

I am a luddite and would tell them the same. If someone wouldnt take a cheque, it wouldnt be a problem, i'd just exercise my voting feet.

If my bank no longers accepted cheques, I would tell them to sling their hook.

I haven't written a cheque for a couple of years now. Although I do still get quite a few.

Last cheque I wrote here was in January 2016 to carpet fitter who did out one of the cottages.
Far easier doing the books just working through the listing in the bank statement rather than having to go through various cheque book stubs.
Was a 50/50 mix of both for a few yeas until all suppliers started providing Bacs payment details and that was far worse. Best to stick to all or nothing.

Stupid move on Harbro's part though.

Just deal with davidsons, feed just as good better delivery service by a country mile and better accounts system, more efficient company all together imo.

My company deals with about 40 suppliers on a monthly (some daily) basis, the last cheque we wrote was December 2015. We do still have some customers that pay by cheque but they are fewer every year.

I get about 10-20% cheques, don't mind how people want to pay - completely up to them.

I'm amazed Harbro would do that. There is a very small cost to putting a cheque in to some accounts, wonder if that's part of it.

Why would you actively pee off a chunk of your customers like this? I'll take people's money however it comes.

Not before time. So did everyone stop buying petrol when the filling stations stopped taking cheques ?

How ridiculous that in the 21st Century, we write out and sign a piece of paper, that in some cases is worthless.

All cheque here but reading the odd thread like this i seem to be in an increasing minority.
Did do a payment by bacs for something this summer and ended up having to go to the bank to do it
