We had them yesterday for 3rd time this winter phoned the police who said they are sending car with blue light on they did get here 1 hour after our phone call and it was dark they had killed at least 2 hares. The police said they came from reading well no wonder it took an hour Reading it is about 35 miles away.

Had about 15 men + dogs coursing just after midnight one night last week using huge spotlights? they all took off as dad approached them leaving a couple of dogs. Dad followed for a about 5 miles. Police turned up about an hour and half later, didn't even want to take the dog. Police handed it in to pound and coursers picked it up next morning, police not interested (probably as theses people live in caravans).
Next time will phone to report a drink driver see how long it takes police then.
Ironically a huge police investigation took place two farms away when supposedly buzzard carcasses were found in a field which actually turned out to be hen carcasses!!!!
Wildlife crime only seems to matter if the landowner is a suspect.

Bloody buggers got in on friday night smashed a hunt jump up and driven over the whole place thank god we direct drill so they haven,t made too much mess but really pisses me off seeing wheel marks across a field . Recon they were about around 4 am in the morning.
Thursday and friday nights is when they seem to be the most active.
I've noticed that these nights seem to be a favourite too around here .

We had massive problems with lampers after Rabbits last winter..gates left open and fences cut etc..one night we had 12 gates left open and 25dry cows on the road,160 of next doors sheep in the road to,and our roads are very popular with the boy racers,so its an accident waiting to happen..

I have to say that Thames Valley Police is making huge efforts to stamp coursing out in this area. They have put a lot of resources into this and are keeping farmers well updated on progress.

Well done TVP and thank you for the effort.

I'm not a farmer, but live on a farm. We have the same problem. Often when I come back from rabbiting or foxing elsewhere at 1am I notice the lamps out the back. The biggest issue is they drive anywhere and everywhere, leaving track marks all over the crop.

Usual times are anywhere between 2am and 4am. They come from miles away too, seldom local.

There was a problem with the local ones here a couple of years ago. They tried to make a camp in one of the neighbour's field. My wife's father got some of the local men together and forced them out. There were loads of threats and verbal abuse thrown around, so he then went to their camp and burned all of the washing that was hanging on the lines. We are now all friends and when they come rolling past in their horse drawn wagons we exchange polite nods and a tip of the hat. We also never have any problems when the Dorset steam fair comes along.

Well some interesting comments
Being a land owner and a lamper of some 42 years I can understand both sides of the fence,
Some people are in this game for boredom or a whim some are in it for for a passion.
Me the later
But threatening to shoot dogs is perthetic if someone ever raised a gun towards my dogs I would stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
But then if somebody was driving my fields without permission I would lay traps in gateways etc
I have some 20.000 acres to drive on which I keep to the hedges while the dogs pick the rabbits up and I don't fall out with farmers they like and see what I do but it's not in my interest to fall out with them either
If I had issues with lampers get a lamper to lamp your land who will look after it at silly hrs of the night and police it from the thugs who have no idea about how the countryside works

Yes maybe but like I tried to say not everyone is the same I see more incidents by syndicates then any other I wouldn't let my land to syndicates there pretend keepers and then think they own the land
Like I said good and bad in all types

The difference is the lot who do the Hare coursing have no respect for anything. They drive through gates. And proceed to drive all over growing crops, with no permission. This is criminal damage, if you wish to group yourself with these then expect a very hard time on here.
