Rather nice that you are society minded and actually secure your load. I am surrounded by cowboys who drive around with 1970’s artic trailers with dolly’s and 40 odd round bales of silage on and not a strap or piece of rope owned.
Crop looks thin.

Our Glacier is coming on fast, only slowed up by the contamination with a later ripening variety and some volunteer wheat. I reckon we'll try it Monday or Tuesday next week. Bulk of the grain is hard to bite now.

We have a block of bazooka WB ready, 170 acres, the rest of the wb could do with another 5 days. They only finished pdi’ing the combine today and with some rain forecast tomorrow doubt we will do much before monday, or friday afternoon

Yes, the straw is thin, badly affected by the early drought. The May rain saved the grain yield. Straw quality is poor, looking forward to getting some from some hybrid barley on some heavier land when it ripens.
I was one of those cowboys with artics until I saw the light.

Tested ours yesterday at 14 to 14.5%. Going to have a nibble this afternoon to check new combine is working and get everything calibrated up and ready to go.

Expect to make a proper start on Sunday / Monday.

I see. Ours is due to a seed dressing cock up (again). Fortunately I don't think much harm as come of it (apart from putting back harvest date a bit).

You should take it up with your supplier who is morally, if not legally, obliged to make suitable arrangements for you which will leave you now in the same position which you would have been in short his error.

It's never too late until you've actually cut it, which you say you haven't.

We had the same problem here at exactly this same juncture this time last year.

If you can show that the seed was faulty you can always negotiate financial redress.

If you can't, you won't.
