That’s true. I’ve had two or three years without hardly anything breaking down, now everything seems to want to.

If its any consolation my tractor refused to start on the weighbridge at the merchants store at the head of a fairly agitated queue. I had decided to trailer my sweep up load of OSR in for them as no lorry would come out for 2 tonnes. They would probably have wasted less time all round sending a truck out for the 2 tonnes! Sorry folks.

Crispin winter wheat (feed) 9 t /ha drilled in November after sugar beet. Best yield we have ever had out of that field. Sample a bit average as its sandy land but very pleased with it. Fed a thousand rooks when it was drilled as well.

Combines going in Wheat here tonight, asked one farmer what the moisture % was? reply I got was : I have no idea but have told the combine driver to keep going regardless of how high it is!

And I should add we had heavy rain yesterday and overnight!

What is it about weighbridges that makes things not want to start, brakes come on, or other problems?

I don't know. The starter solenoid is a bit reluctant about 1 time in 50. But of course if there is an audience and a bit of urgency required then you can be sure it won't go. i put a spanner across the terminals in the end and thankfully it turned over and fired up. Left it running weighing back out. It was my normally trusty old Renault 130Z....pulling a 3 ton trailer.

We started here again at dinner time and finished a block of wheat that was testing between 14.7-15.3. Then moved back home and started on the spring barley which was testing 13.8-14.2.

The last block of wheat we cut after rape on poor as p!ss sand doing over 3.5t/a.c. and 76 bushel which is in incredible considering the drought we've had this year.

Spring barley after beet comfortably doing 3 tons acre and over 8 5 foot rounds to the acre!

Could be worse.....I know someone that accidentally opened the hydraulic tailgate on the weighbridge!!!

(It wasn’t even at a grainstore either!)

Started this at 6pm. Finished it too. 16% moisture. Nice end to a messed up day. Had my workshop broken into last night, tools and the quad bike stolen then one of my harvest students decided he wants to go back to Australia tomorrow. Hey ho. View attachment 827195
Much as I do like having the option of different likes thanks you @Clive Now I want the option to use multiples :D:(
