Although mine looks ready, it really needs a week like you said. It’s variable across the fields, with grain still soft on the heavier soil.

But 50% up on last year.

Well, I was hoping to have gone and had a nibble this afternoon but, due to a part for the header that should have been here first thing this morning not landing until late on I decided to wait until tomorrow . Combines sat waiting eager to go now

Here in northern Italy barley harvest would normally have started 3 weeks ago, but this year I saw the first combine only yesterday. Wheat is now getting ready fast under this 35°+ heat.
Quite a late year everywhere it seems.

@Stewie what is the status of the harvest there? I'm heading to Viareggio next Wednesday and might try and grab around on a combine with my pigeon Italian on the way back on Friday.

Late start today due to a poor morning, but still around 13percent mark and all extremely ripe.

My neighbour tells that he thinks OSR will go this week-end - if the ground will support the tracked Lexion. 65mm in 48 hrs, but next village recorded 120mm!

Spotted a NH combine running just north of the Tees, on the western side of the a1.
So the harvest is creeping north.

You might be a bit late. I am on holiday, but a week ago at home probably 80% had already been cut. This week weather have been bad so maybe you will find someone finishing the last of the wheat.

They fairly rattle through it in Italy. Take it they won't start ground work until the autumn, be like concrete.

No actually someone will have already started cultivating. For reference, where I live ploughing matches are traditionally in August.

Got going this afternoon, only knocked 10ac off to make sure everything is working ok. As it happens found a bearing on the header clutch that is jut not quite right so that’s tomorrow’s job .
