Harvest Start Date

One rolling locally. Just in time to make this week’s copy of the Farmers Weekly.
Can’t be in too much of a rush as the combine driver is carting as well.
That's how i work. Either fill a trailer, tip and return, or fill two if the mrs is around to cart one of the trailers.
Gives me and my old combine a rest and chance to stretch my legs, get a cuppa.
The one field i do for a neighbour, doesn't half give me back/leg ache, if i don't get out all day .

It's short-termism gone mad, Zippy768.

We always reckon to finish next to the yard.

:joyful: :joyful:
Actually we always finish next to the yard. A nice steep hanging that is in continuous spring barley.
Of course by that time the truck has become full of every remotely useful tool we own that if really doesn't matter where in the county the combine breaks down, we are already fully prepared ??

Same here but by then it's never very easy to find anything you really need under the huge accumulation of broken fingers, worn-out skids, damaged dividers and boomeranged elevator slats.

Not to mention the odd punctured trailer tyre or two.

Might write in to the FW "A disappointing 4.4t/ha".. :banghead:
Very pleased to have a crop of OSR at all!
As an aside, is it possible to reduce the sensitivity of self levelling on a Lexion? It's fighting my new autosteer and getting a sway on.
Looking like 2020 might not be the unmitigated disaster we had feared :)

Very glad to hear that's what you're now finding when you're actually cutting, Charles Quick.

Unfortunately, a lot of the damage done by the drought hereabouts, particularly on the WB, was irreversible - in fact, the rain's just now made the samples even worse without increasing the yields.

And sadly, given the current weather forecast, probably shan't know one way or t'other here 'till Friday.

But, hopefully, most of our WB's still good for 4t - anything more than that'll be a real bonus.

? ?

Yes, same here, got 2 decent 14t'ers, normally fill them then cart, surprising how much you can get through on your own.

Probably a fortnight before it’s ready [emoji849]
You just can believe some farmers can you? Local Claas rep sold a new combine to a farmer and they arranged the date for the fitter to go and 'Set it off'. The day duly arrived and it p........d down so the rep called him up to arrange another the date. The farmer was quite irate and said " The combine is here waiting, my man is here waiting and l am here waiting, so where are you!" So they had no choice but to send the fitter.(Who was totally bewildered why anyone in their right mind would want to try and do some combining in the pouring rain) I think you can guess the rest ...........
