Need to do a few hours before you can afford that. Order it just in time for start of ag college.

There’s plenty around here in them before 16!

Joking aside, decent footwear is a must. Your in them a long day so need to be comfortable and broken in.

One of the quotes I always remember from the films of the American harvest crews was, ‘ if there’s a smash, almost always somebody was in reverse’. It might be you with a grain cart, or it might be the combine, but if either of you are too close, it can so easily happen.

Don't follow the combine up the field a few feet off the chopper like a lost dog, he might need to back up quick if he goes ploughing and looking out for trailers is one thing he won't need.

Pay attention to how far he goes for a fill and you'll have a good idea where you should be.

At night, don't sit waiting with tractor in xmas tree mode with all the lights on, road lights or sidelights and parked out of the way.

Take it canny, help out and ask if not sure.

Ask the combine driver if he prefers to fill your trailer on the second/third tip. Our rule at work is get one tank full onboard and second time pull up along side set a pace and stay exactly the same. Combine driver will vary speed to fill the trailer. Drives him wild if he tries to slow up to fill the back of the trailer and the tractor driver slows up too :ROFLMAO:

Combine driver sets the pace. Here the combine driver will radio trailer man to let him know unloading speed. 2 way radios are mega.

Clean windows and fuel up full first thing in the morning, tractor so much nicer to drive with decent clean windows, seems to keep cooler in the cab too.

Nope, fuel up last thing at night, then if you spill any on you, you dont have to smell it all day. It also prevents condensation in the tank.
Clean windows at night too, then if its a damp evening they dont take an age to clean and the dust wont stick to them.

Put your phone down and tell the manager/boss if you break something.- always.

It's good to read that a young 'un doesn't think that they know it all at age 16 and is willing to ask for advice.

If you got time and it is safe to do so, regularly get out of the cab and take a walk around the kit, just to check everything is ok. Also keeps you alert gives you the opportunity to stretch your muscles and joints (they'll thank you for it in later life).

If it’s a mixed farm ignore the bit about cleaning windows. Any farm where livestock is present and cleaning windows will be frowned upon!!
