I have a John Deere so not really but can you get claas exploded diagrams on the internet? Inside the main pulley on the shaft out of the engine on some claas models (definitely a 98) there’s a coupling (rubber) with bolts that can shear and poss jam? Start a new thread and tag gapples and mf andy. What model is yours?
That is a good starting point as any.
Will be stranded in the field until I have time to look at it again.
Dad was willing me to phone Claas!!!
We have 10 months to fix it

Bummer.
You dont say which Claas it is, but It is easy-ish to strip out the engine tailshaft, having removed all the ancillaries, but I'm struggling to think how a failed rubber doughnut would cause it to jam up solid, and when the bearing fails it will cut into the tailshaft and still spin. But it would be a happy outcome if it was only that.
Couldn't be a hydraulic lock from a failed head gasket or something?

It's a 108 dom.
The thing is she was going fine the night before. But next morning seems something was jamming to stop her running

No, 3/4 open, opened it fully and still solid, just dropped the concave on the bolts and still solid, haven’t a clue what’s going on in there, and to small a trap door to see anything but crop & a fat hen mix 🙄
Finally got it clear, still no idea why it stopped, but wont be running the drum as slow anymore, even if it does crack a few more beans. Thought 650 would be safe as it will run at 450 ( slowest speed + 100 ) ah well, will see what the rest of the day throws up :nailbiting:

When the doughnut went in my 108 it just left me stranded in the field with no drive, 1 & 1/2 days to replace it, 2 blokes, neither had done one before

That donut will clatter back and forwards like backlash for ages before failing.
If hydro, assume Merc straight 6 engine. Assume hydro pump belt driven off tailshaft pulley? so if belts all slacked off would eliminate anything beyond engine.

Yep, I have slackened every belt that runs something off the engine. Still wont budge.

What engine problem would it be that meant she was running fine the night before but jammed up cold the day after

Should of kept the smoke going
Couldn't see a way of getting it to spread :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I can't blame the combine for that, fat hen not quite dead, its at the stage of not dead or green enough to smash up, but patience is running out and trying to get done. Lesson learnt though, did it again today, but with more drum speed, so packed in in well this time, will wait now before attaching it again, once I've cleared the Rotary separator in the morning, and put the concave back on the bolts. :banghead:
