Better day than expected and we missed the storms last night ( lightening but no rain), so got into my last field of wheat . All was going well with 14.4% moisture , when a few mins after taking this pic , the heavens opened.
Costello again after grass. Good in the main, but flooded out patches and two poor headlands .

thick fog here most of the day so no harvesting, coming in heavy fog again as I post this .The ww we murdered after help from the can is now sown for possibly /probably / hopefully the first and only time this season with osr, somehow weve got to get the cropping plan back on track after this year ,thought we had finished with osr years ago .We still havnt any ww or sp b properly ready and the slow days arnt helping , .I dont like to combine cereals unless theve naturally been down to 16 m/c. even if rain pushes them back up I think drying unripe grain costs more and looses more weight ,certainly bushel

i'm quite proud of the way we have managed this difficult year

sounds a bit daft with such terrible yields but it may be my best management year ever

no regrets- not often you can say that honestly as a farmer
The key to managing this risk is low fixed costs as you know. Reckon most farms could knock off 1.5-2t/ha worth of wheat without much effort.
Cut spring oats last couple days, about 5-6t/ha Bushels 53-54
