Harvest/Yields 2020

My neighbour is confident of 3 ton average , doubt it will do 2 , but you have to go along .
Glad I’ve got the least amount of cereals acreage I’ve ever had this year. final result from the rape was dead on 1.5 tons acre. Don’t think my barley has done much more than that, and that’s not counting the field that got re drilled in the spring. Neighbours barley wasn’t bad for grain, but ended up with 18 bales of straw off 17 acres. We are going to be scratching around to fill him up for the pigs this year.

Have just finished some Kerrin and I lay claim to it being the highest yielding Wheat in this County @Chickcatcher 😎
Met up with my brother in law this afternoon. He had the afternoon off as the Combine driver was playing Cricket, he was also offering his services as a pusher up of my vast tonnage. 17tons/Ha seems like a great waste of excitement in wondering where would I put it all. This year 17Tons would be close to the farms total yield, must put some chicken manure on and not keep giving it away to "ALL and sundry" north of the A505. Oh did you win and have a good game?

Half of Your 17 Tonnes/ha would be heralded a success this year! unfortunately the only thing high about my yield was it is 400 odd feet above sea level and wont be bettered in Cambs and only one field higher in Essex.

Only one field of rape this year as was supposed to be in SA watching my boy play rugby. That obviously didn’t happen, combined Friday 1.75t/ac. Will be best paying crop this year. Virtually no beetles on trailers this year compared with last year so will be persevering with WOSR this year.
The lack of Beetles is noticeable here too, we could shovel them up last year!!

I have this pain to come with Winter Beans and Spring Rape ( my own fault, I know )
My Agronomist mentioned one of his customers av on winter beans was 0.5t/ha and by all accounts he had a fair few acres in and chatting to next door neighbour yesterday, he reckoned his were doing 2t/ha yesterday.

2t won’t be uncommon this year (ha obviously)

Just about finished the seed peas. Nice sample, not the biggest pea. Just a shade under 1t/acre.
Winter barley though :yuck: around 2-2.2t acre. Next to no straw. Had my small baler up to 14kph and still wasn't enough (pickup couldn't keep up/go fast enough) but had to slow down for the bales being dragged.
Was a sod to combine too, could not get it to feed nicely.

@Cambridgeshire We are being watched, I didn't realise you farmed at such a high altitude, So perhaps you have a reason to have your head in the Clouds. I recon our Ben next door is establishing next years harvest today, perhaps a leaf out of his book, the trouble is he looks down on me! at least he didn't need my scythe this year good job as the handle has fallen off through overuse.
