Finally finished cereal harvest (spring beans left) Never ever had such a miserable blooming harvest, from a similar acreage (300 acres) I will be 150-180 tonne barley down
100-120 tonne wheat down
last year baled 2200 round bales, this year 803.
Looks like a lot of cattle belly clipping for me this winter.

Had a day good couple of days in spring beans , yields are a lot better than we were expecting at around 2ton /ac . 40 ac left to cut but weather is looking good for Monday so we’re having a day off today .

I wont mention this yrs hay production nightmares.
Only had spring wheat in the ground, after not getting any ww in.
It looked well on my heavy ground.
Sprayed off 2.5 wks ago co's of so much still very green amongst the stuff that was fit.
Had an inch of rain in a very short space of time 2 wks ago, which put all the the nice big fat heads on the deck.
Hasn't done anywhere near 2t/ac.

I sometimes have a dream around Christmas time where I find a field/part field I forgot to harvest and I wake up in a panic.

I sympathise and am glad i am not the only one.
I regularly dream that i have forgotten to spray, plant or especially harvest a whole 5 fields that are outlying to the main block.
This only started when we look on a farm with a lot of fields which are smaller than i am used to.

Forgetting to harvest a farm is one of my recurring dreams. Alongside melting grain running out of grain stores. And others.
A 29 tonne load of wheat returning to the farm rejected is my worst nightmare. No shed high enough to tip it in. This week it came true but got it unloaded into trailers with our old Parmiter.... after about 2 hours fecking about. Luckily the driver is a good neighbour. It was either that or tip it in a grass field. Worst week in a long time.
Last night was one of those doppelgänger nightmares where you aren’t sure you are talking to the right person as you can’t remember what they look like sort of thing.
