Has anyone sheeted up with wrapped square bales?

I'm looking for a less labour intensive sheeting up method without breaking the bank and wondered if anyone uses or has used wrapped square bale silage on top of the black sheet?

Currently use wagon tyres touching with a single black sheet.

Clamp has only one side wall so is a big area to cover, 300 acre goes in at a time.

Would be required to be taken on and off 5/6 times a year.

We use truck tyres also on much smaller clamps. Could you develop a system where you bolt the truck tyres together in mats of say 9 and have a long reach 360 to place them.

Cover ours with square straw bales, roll sheet out then back up full width of clamp, drive up with forklift to place bales a bay at a time, you have to have enough bales left from year before to do it tho, also means you can use straw as you take silage out over the season

We cover ours with round silage bales. It works away well enough. Roll out sheet then roll back up and place a row of bales at a time

Same here with wrapped squares on maize so only once,can't see the bales sticking it 5/6 times

Can’t see bales working if you’ve got to keep taking them on & off. Would be a slow job & possible not do the bales any good.
How about one of these? Works with standard tyres & sidewalls. They’ve got videos on their facebook page

We do it when spare bales allow usually try to get them around the edge if we can best way in my opinion

They will work well we use old conveyor mat heavy to lug about but work well on the edges as they settle with the pit
