Fastrac for comfort but it needs more hp or a different tranny . Mine's on 1800hrs it was new last Feb currently in for a service and a couple of tiny niggles on warranty nothing that's made any difference to how it goes

JD 6215 or 6250 will be good all rounders and seem to be reliable with decent brakes too

So you're wanting something that'll be happy over the legal weight limits for road use.
They dont run full for on road use,

offroad use we arent as strict with the loads So they end up getting loaded until it cant take no more.

The lorries do most of the distance work.

The tractors do agri work and haulage work, so a diverse fleet is what we have to have.
We do alot of civils, agri and drainage work.

Did you have a look up at the open days wed/thurs? Fastrac looks smart but my god those 8s Masseys look even uglier in the flesh 😳 and are huge for their power

Aye I took the boys over on wed afternoon for a look and to wind up the sales department 🤣🤣

I had a look into the 8s it's a big cab to go with a big looking tractor 🤣 didn't look into any of the smaller ones I used to sit in one of them cabs in 1998 😉

I would strongly agree, are you running valtra yourself?
Don’t bother with T series Valtra cvt if you’re grossing 36t. It will just get confused with that sort of load, it’s not a very clever transmission, unless you also need precise control at low speed I wouldn’t consider it, go power shift and you’ll get an extra 20hp as I don’t think they put the vario in the biggest T series.

Have had ours on 7f plough in stiff going and it fannies about something silly, revving up, slowing down, stalling. Don’t get me wrong, for the drilling, stone separating, general work, it is great, and we all like it but I wouldn’t rate it as a heavy haulage or draft transmission at all, I think you’d be disappointed.

sure someone will pop up to say they regularly haul a 50t load of big testicles around with theirs and have to hold it back going up hill…..

Thanks for the feedback, do the valtras have any known faults or niggles?

There was the infamous bad batch of circlips in the gearbox a few yr ago, but other than that I’m not sure. Put almost 6000hr on one and it’s been alright, minor niggles like electrics and sticky solenoids but on the whole it’s been alright.

Which of the 2 would have the least breakdowns over lets say 2000 hours of heavy work?
No idea
There are enough stories on here and other media of unreliable tractors of all colours.
I'm sure some of it is how they are serviced, worked and driven. My Dad used to say treat a tractor like you would a woman, but there are plenty who abuse women, so??
We have 2 Fastracs and it is amazing how 2 drivers on the same job (on trailers) will have very different flat out %ages and fuel use, and only do a little bit more in a day, and that ignores road safety and public relations/road etiquette.

Grossing 42t here with a 2010 puma cvx 225. Handles it alright but by f*ck she drinks diesel. I'm sure cvt gearbox is very power hungry for road work. It is very good on fuel in field though. I'd like to try a fastrac sometime.
