Mr Packham also did a piece for the news tonight re the grouse season. No prizes for guessing his stance!! You landowners are destroying the wild moors apparently. I bet that will make a few folk a bit irritated; it did me. Maybe farmers should stop producing animal based products and Bojo ban imports of same - how long before Jo public starts to protest at the lack of food??? Not long is my guess. Common sense seems in short supply at the moment on a massive scale!!!!

Really annoys me when they do an obviously staged preamble with no right to respond for balance then conduct a one to one interview but without the ability to control the speakers. Surely a simple mute button with a light is very effective as the speaker if they know there on mute would not be so keen to go off at a tangent.

They don’t as far as I’m aware. Common sense training starts at a young age and too many parents don’t teach their children this along with other essential life skills
Unfortunately I don't think that many parents these days have the skills themselves & even if they do, it's far easier to sit them in the corner with a smartphone & let them do their own thing! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Spare me the rural ignorance of Labour luvvies from posh London postcodes

Ian Botham

The press release detailing the Labour Party’s proposed review of grouse shooting deserves a place in the National Archives. It will speak to generations to come as an example of how policymakers living in posh London postcodes can get so many basic facts about the countryside spectacularly wrong.
Exhibit one. It claims that grouse moors are putting the environment at risk by drying out moorland. Only one problem with that: gamekeepers make huge efforts to keep the moors wet, because grouse love the heather that flourishes in damp conditions. A basic Google search reveals dozens of expert sources on how grouse moors are being “rewetted”. And if Labour’s environment team doesn’t trust experts,......

In the past, Gamekeepers were responsible for maintaining a balance between predators and their prey. A decline over recent years in the number of Gamekeepers ( and poachers) has seen a significant increase in favour of predators. Banning grouse shooting will accelerate the decline in game keepers and leave the hills and uplands devoid of ground-nesting birds.

I wonder where members of the Labour Party have gained experience of hill farming and its interaction with grouse-shooting interests.

And it is also worth pointing out that youngsters brought up in grouse shooting areas and who had/have the opportunity to earn a few bob ''driving grouse'' to the gentry in the butts, also had/have the opportunity to meet (at a distance) members of the aristocracy et al, and to obtain an insight into a different way of speaking and behaving. And it is also educational from a sociological aspect to see how the gamekeepers dress on such occasions and how they interact with their bosses!!!!!!

That is not good news for agriculture :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I was horrified to see his face staring at me from a wall diaplay. I know it’s not like years ago when most of the children would of had family involved with farming, but there is still a handful of farmers children there.

They obviously see him as some kind of role model?!!

You should have asked if it was wise to have darts targets on the wall for kids that age.
