Indeed. I shared an article from Money Week on here a few weeks ago about climate change and emmissions. It had been written by a grown up. There was not one single mention of agriculture in the whole article. How refreshing and revealing. You beat me to it. It is not an emergency and we do not have just 10 years to stop everything going belly up.
The report looked at some worse case scenarios and said the temp could change by minus 3% to plus 13% making me think they are not as certain as they sound.
Wales are hammering livestock again yet only around 4% emissions most of which is CO2/ methane which is taken up by the grass they eat.
I don't see many cars or planes being able to mitigate their own GHG emissions
And of course the 4% (I think 4.5% is more accurate) you refer to for the UK revolves around the misguided way in which methane from ruminants is included as part of the calculation. Someone with an actual understanding of maths and how this methane cycles would come to a different figure. NO2 is a bit more probelmatic for farming however, both livestock and crops. Maybe that's why the vegans never mention it?
