I had my FAWL inspection in the Spring. Due to ongoing COVID restrictions they weren't allowed in the house/office and didn't inspect any paperwork other than the vet animal health plan.

I'd have dropped out if there had been any issues but, unlike combinables, most of it is a legal requirement anyway.

But you are still paying them for the privilege of telling them you aren't breaking the law.

Had to cancel mine as in hospital, then had an email saying it was around ten days ago which was news to me but the chap didnt appear so assume it was their usual incompetence and hadn't told him, I've had my tickets so I'm not rushing to arrange it

Got on the phone to them to bend an ear, first contact ‘i’ll pass you on to someone else’,I.e., don't want to deal with a hot potato. Next person ‘i’ll get someone to phone you on Monday!

Talk about pass the buck.

They can go swivel!

isn't "tidy" rather subjective ?

Can't see why tidy affects food safety ?

Nothing to do with food safety. What difference if it's a new ring feeder around the back in the nettles, or an old one.

...and your doing your bit for the environment by keeping all your old machines for parts, and using bits off them.

That's exactly my thought!

Their guidance doesn’t indicate it has to be removed from the farm!

why would that make produce any safer ? assurance was supposed to be about improving food safety and I don't see how "tidy" does that ? and "tidy" is subjective - subjective metrics have no place in binary standards that are pass or fail

the question any farmer should ask upon failing an inspection is what corrective action Red Tractor are now going to take in the knowledge that according to their standards, food that was not safe or of standard it was sold under has entered the food chain ? will they trace through and notify all in the supply chain and ensure a complete recall of all product form your farm ?

If not ........ it's meaningless

I was told by our inspector that farms are now required to be tidy as an assured farm that is untidy could damage the Red Tractor brand.
Had 2 inspections earlier in the year for 2 farms (they refused to link them) only for another inspector to ring yesterday to tell me that we are due an inspection. I didn't seem able to accept that we really didn't need another inspection 5 months after the last🤦‍♂️
