Haylage needs to be £60 a bale to make it pay .Its easy if you wrap it ,
But then my hay shed is empty , gone to a local diary farm , thats me done
Especially when they dont pay!!It's better paying than tack sheep .....
Look what happens when your out "repping" home farm gets neglected?Season is over for me , not one bale
I've got a good team here , the local Dairy farm lads come in as it's there own farm , we have not had more than 3 dry days since June , Timothy needs 5 days here in good weatherLook what happens when your out "repping" home farm gets neglected?
Whats the trade?Timothy squares ?
Not done it myself but I know a man keen to buy some at good money.I’m going to have a go at oat hay this week, anyone with experience?
It’s been cut once already, grown back twice the crop and well in head.

Why make them so hard? Thought hay needed to be able to breathe.

The photo doesn’t do it justice, you would send a novice out to cut this bank.
Hopefully we’ll bale the last bit of first cut on Saturday.
Is that the grass you were asking about two weeks ago?View attachment 899531View attachment 899532
261 5fts off 50 acres, proper solid bales! No way you can get your hand in anywhere. They are like drums, you can play a rhythm on them they are so tight! Happy after thinking it would be a really shoddy crop.
Yes! Cut on Sunday, turned yesterday, baled today. Been warm and windy here. All but the very bottom of the thickest rows were pretty dry by Monday evening. Is that the grass you were asking about two weeks ago?
It’s all been light around here. We’re just mowing, rowing it up and baling it. Sometimes have to put 10 rows into 1. We’ve had hardly any rain since March.Light crop
