Hoping to cut some grass for haylage if the forecast is right for next week, but in the last 24 hours neighbours cows have broken into field. Fortunately they weren't in long <24hrs, but they have trampled and eaten some of the grass, but also there is some dung as you would expect. It's really frustrating as it is the second time this has happened - last time just before made hay back in June.
I've not made haylage before, is the dung going to cause a problem once wrapped. Is there anything I can do about it.
I want to be a reasonable neighbour, but these cows have broken through the same place they got through in June and I can't see any attempt has been made to fix it, back then a bit of electric tape was put up over the hole, but could see no sign of it this time. He has my number but has not even bothered to send a text to say about it. I suspect hoping I wouldn't notice? I appreciate my own stock might get out at some point, but surely that's not very neighbourly? If the dung isn't going to cause a problem for haylage then I would let it slide, but if some of the field and grass is wasted, then surely he has responsibility for it. Appreciate others thoughts.
