Yes but there's no carryover from last year and people are reluctant to sell very nice hay cheaply

There is one comedian selling hay for £2 a bale on facebook.
Says everyone else is too dear. Good profit at £2.

So we are soon to bale a new ley, expecting about 100 4 stringers, the crop is so thick it's blocking the turner.

We only need a few for the nags, we want to sell enough to cover bailing costs. I can probably find space to store them all inside, when will the optimum price be to sell!?

I suspect there will be lots of hay about now but will there be in 6 months time?

Hay doesn't seem to be something you see much of around here despite more favourable weather in summer. Don't know why?
Labour intensive, the need to store it undercover, feed value, poor use of ground?
Or just cant be arsed

Plenty of hay still made here if you go to the hills ,you won't see hay made on a dairy farm as no one will park up a irrigator long enough to make it it's hard enough to get them to stop the pivot for 24 hours to make balage let alone several days for hay !
