Even earlier than last year, but seen a bit knocked down today.

Plus there's chatter on last year's thread again 😂.... @Tubbylew @carbonfibre farmer.

We are still at least three weeks away from making a start, but there is alot of grass already. Id say even at the end of April there was more than in there has been in June/July some years.

Just been out with the dog and it's looking pretty good.

Let's all just hope for a good bit of weather this hay making season....

Brave to try making hay atm . Grass young , damp nights . Rain after the weekend 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Im guessing they will be making haylage with it. Weather is good down here until at least Sunday. Today was very warm and breezy with the same everyday until Sunday.

Yes its true, it can be pouring with rain up the road and dry here, and for a small country the scenary varies so much, ie, used to travel from essex up to the royal show at stonleigh, going up the M1 from london you could see the countryside change, to near stonleigh ridge and furrow small fields, with mixed farming, the other extreme i think here in the UK, is height above sea level, we in essex are not only south, but not much abouth sea level, wheres up "north" you can be hundreds of feet above sea level? Anyone up "north" on here know how high above sea level they farm are?

It's strange over here, the Needles (west tip of the island) where the Solent meets the English channel combined with the high Downland seem to split the weather.

Think I posted a picture showing it on last years thread. The new forest and Southampton can be getting a soaking and we are in sunshine.

Or it works the other way sometimes and it goes down the channel and the south of the island gets hit.

Don't get me wrong though we still get our fair share of soakings here 😂.

Baler lined up for tomorrow afternoon.

Outside sward will be wrapped if necessary but hopefully the rest will be OK.

Both today and tomorrow now look like having much more sun than initially forecast.

Fingers crossed.

Baling hay ?? April 1st was ages ago 😳
Like I said, it'll be wrapped if it has to be but we're hopeful that most of it will be safe to keep as hay.

Sun blazing this evening, a good sunny morning tomorrow and we'll hopefully be in business.

Baled hay on April 26th during covid (2020), lovely stuff.

Sun is blazing but the ground here at least is still very wet so the moisture would be drawing through the cut grass all the time. What variety of grass is it that is ready for hay now. I have made hay in late May but never this early.

I feel like this is cheating! Surely you can't start a thread on something without actually doing the thing :ROFLMAO:
