The nights are drawing in, anyone use a head torch? Pros & Cons, size, weight, brightness and longevity etc

I have a Led lenser mh8, rechargeable by USB. Various brightness modes with plenty of light, and you can unclip from the strap to use hand held if needed. Another handy thing is the internal batteries are AAA so if you did run out between charges you can put some standard AAA batteries in!

I buy cheap rechargeable led ones off Amazon.
Last couple have lasted ages.
Charge lasts several hours.

That's the last one I bought.
It's not bad for the money.

Nitecore HC50 here, this particular model now discontinued but Nitecore are still making head torches. Can see 100 yards on highest setting, very well made, have two of them for years, very reliable.

I’ve had a couple of Petzl torches, keep it in the cubby hole behind the handbrake in the pickup, very handy things, not too expensive. Worth getting rechargeable batteries for them tho, brighter for longer with them.

Always had Petzl and Dad's had LED Lenser. Either are really good and well made. Just ordered an LED Lenser MH10 for myself. 600 lumens and 150m throw, but dimmable. Prefer having a head lamp for lamping and round the sheds.

Had a LED Lenser but it failed. Bought from Amazon so no come back though I should have just sent it direct to them judging by some of the comments on their excellent customer care.

Bought a Petzel instead. Much lighter, cheaper and ok for what we want but not a patch on the Lenser.

Nitecore HC30

No stupid cables to pull out of battery boxes, no silly clicks to adjust angle, no charging port to knacker, just lots of light.
Can shove it in your pocket no issues, uses a 18650 rechargeable cell, if it's flat just swap the battery in 10 secs.

Have a led lenser h6r here for quite a few years. Wouldn't be without it, gets used every night during the winter. Had a couple of lamps replaced under their 5 year warranty, and when you receive your replacement, you register it and get another 5 years of warranty ! So no complaints

Wow,what a mine field this subject is! worse than buying a tedder, 4, 6, 8 rotor!

One question, does the elasticated head strap stretch and move on your head, or is it best to get the ones with "G" string head strap?

Look for:
Cree T6, led also 18650 battery also soon also no external cabling i,e the battery is integral making it compact.
Search ebay, probably under a fiver, battery and charger extra.

Mine is worn every day and the head strap replaced every couple of years or so when there is no more adjustment left. A good idea is to buy replacement straps when purchasing the headtorch, as after a few years the model can become obsolete and the strap hard to find.

Buy elastic from any drapery shop if the buckle is ok.
