Hebridian sheep

IIRC, you used a Texel tup on them with some success?
Yes, theyre good milkers and produce a pair of 40kg twins by end of sept out of a texel with ease, off very crap grass. The cross ewes inherit alot of the toughness and ability to grow away on crap forage.
downside is half are black and dont sell well live, and also if the mother is a twit she will lead the lambs astray so no use keeping any back if they turn into twits.
Not much point feeding them any extra or any good forage as theyre "honest" they just grow away at 150-200g a day depending on the tup and dam irregardless of what feed they get.

Ive now folded most of my crosses into my easycares and have used them more than anything to take mature size down to 50-55kg and preserve the ability to thrive on crapper pasture and hold condition on straw and grass.

Just make sure your fences are bloody good, and your dogs are hard as nails, A heb ewe will headbut and go for a dog if it thinks it can, and if ten sheep turn on the dog and the dog hesitates they will mob the poor pooch.
Dont be afraid to shoot and eat a ring leader.
Any that get out, never put them back in.
Down the road or into the freezer.
One on monday is twenty on tuesday and 300 on wednesday.
