Hedge cutter toplink

Anybody else have issues with the top link type bracket extending/unthreading on the hedge cutter A-frame?

Becomes frustrating having to readjust it every so often when the machine starts leaning back.

Anyone worked out a way to stop it happening?

Which end is the locking tab ? I put a loop of cord from the frame then put it up around and hook it on the adjuster handle if you see what I mean ,, problem solved

yes on a jd years ago i got a big nut wound it on a s a better locking device, lock nut.
had it a 6000 series ...a .big nut of same thread solved the prob ....fitted and used as a lock nut.

it was an M36 nut with coarse 4mm pitch thread
but i use a hydraulic toplink nowadays at home.

Absolute genius! How did my brain manage to overcomplicate this simple problem and miss the obvious?!

Have you patented that invention? ;)

It is clear this situation has shown the limits of the engineering flow chart that I consulted prior to posting this question. Being an arable farmer I had forgotten that bale string is the answer to 99% of problems.

lets labour the point because at least then we tried didn't we, to keep the world on a more sound keel...

and just in case any engineering students are doing research on here , perhaps best put this pic up of a 45 yr old toplink still locking firm,

hold the blue tooth for the radio and even the iso bus whatever that is, and especially little flippy tabs that have to be knocked up tight with a lump hammer or a pathetic little swing over bar that wouldnt hold the skin on a rice pudding ,and all that on a multi 100 hp tractor, and still they don't hold a toplink in place.......... no, lets focus on and get the basics right first please....

anyway this is what im talking about...........

Welded a tab on ours so we could swipe it with a lump hammer!
