What's the best cutter and what to look out for. Been offered a lot of cutting work thinking of buying a machine 8-10k mark.
Advised T flails are a must?
Seen this spearhead 645t 2011 on eBay 8k looks fairly tidy?
Or is Bromford / McConnell the way to go?
Do they hold there money not so bad?
1.2m head?

What do I need?

You need to know what you're doing.

You're next step will be to post a "What should I charge?" thread.

TBH you sound like you haven't got a clue!

T flails are definitley the best option as you can reverse them and they are heavier so will be better on thicker material. Spearhead are good machines but the parts back up is so poor you may as well scrap the machine rather than order the parts. Modern day Mcconnel machines are nothing compared to the older ones and are trading on their old reputation like Honda and quad bikes. Bomford are equally as poor with terrible paint and not that refined. The only brand worth considering is a Shelbourne Reynolds they are hard to find second hand best to give them a call direct. 4 foot head is best for contracting with an oil drive, belts burn out when cutting grass

It's a job that I've been offered, don't particularly know much about hedging but could be worth me getting into, it's just asking others opinions so you don't make same mistakes.
Have you ever bought a machine and thought I wish I'd had that extra on it ..

We’ve always ran a pair of McConnel machines. Two years ago we changed the main machine for a shelbourne, which is a very good well built machine, but it’s very heavy. Just changed the second machine for McConnel again. Difficult to say which is best, but wouldn’t go far wrong with either brand. They are both good and happy enough with one of each.

McConnell 6565t here highly recommend them but that’s only as we have one I have used a similar bomford wasn’t a fan of it . Also did a few weeks on this vari forward reach and a twin cutting head cracking bit of kit but over kill for starting out I’d say

Best machine is simple.
A calculator!
See if it adds up on paper first because plenty work for nothing in that job.
