Hedge cutting derogation.

Anyone had a response from RPA after submitting a derogation for hedge trimming. Seems glacially slow this year. Want to start cutting next week.

The NFU's BPS advisers have put together a briefing explaining the process of applying for a hedge cutting derogation.
The derogation to allow cutting in August, is only allowed where oilseed rape or temporary grass is being sown in August.

Am I being thick, why can’t you hedge cut a field once it’s been drilled? Don’t most farmers cut their hedges after drilling in the autumn anyway? Are there people still drilling so close to the hedge that they can’t drive a cutter round? Am I going mad?

I've only got 2 meters from the centre of hedge as a margin cant fit a tractor on that

We left in the old stewardship margins, so can cut after drilling. But tbh if i could guarantee and average yield around each field, I'd be better off paying a contractor to do it before drilling (I dont have time at that time of year).
But then they would also have to do the roads. Then it becomes better to own a hedge cutter.

So I spend over £100 acre putting a new grass ley in then go in with a 14 ton tracked excavator and tree saw a 20 ton woodchipper and two 20 ton trailers to cart the wood off, by Mid September land starts to get wet here
